I made my first ketubah in 1988. But
I wasn’t really thinking about
it as a career move. Instead, my path took some other twists and turns,
and I went on to get both a Master’s and a Doctorate in Social Work.
I’ve been a practicing Social Worker for the past 15 years. I listen
to the stories of people's lives--their triumphs and their challenges.
I've counseled numerous couples through the territory of relationship.
Over
the years, I continued to make ketubot—for friends and soon
for friends of friends. Each time I took on the task of making a new
ketubah, I found that my experience as a therapist lent itself uniquely
well to the process of working with a couple to design their ketubah.
My “therapist” skills in active listening and guided self-expression
were precisely the right tools to help couples capture in word and
image the essence of their partnership. I consider it a great
privilege to get to know people, and to hear their stories. I can’t
wait to hear yours!
